ABOUT US - CIANT
The international dimension of the CIANT centre is essential to preserving the openness and close co-operation with similarly oriented centres and multimedia laboratories in other countries. Prague always was and is a natural geopolitical point of intersection between Paris and Moscow on the east-west axis, or Madrid, Sarajevo and Berlin on the north-south axis. With the location of the CIANT centre in Prague it will be possible to draw on the rich cultural heritage and create an ideal place for inspiring encounters. CIANT actively seeks trans-disciplinary co-operation with individuals and institutions working in the area of the new technologies and offers them the opportunity to exchange experiences. From the time it was founded, the CIANT centre has been located in the Palace Akropolis, with which it co-operates intensively on many multimedia projects. CIANT pursues the following aims in the area of art and the new technologies:
The goals of the CIANT centre demonstrate the priority of cultural links. Only on their foundation is it possible to find the instruments for critical reflection on the cyberculture that brings us to the very edge of the traditional (post)industrial society and on the way from analogy to digitalisation opens up the horizon of a new communication society. We are living on the threshold of a new millennium, when an increasingly dizzying technological development awaits us. The CIANT centre is here in order to reflect this historical transformation, to give a theoretical foundation to the new aesthetics and philosophy of cybernetic art and to put the phenomenon of the new media in the appropriate contexts. |
